Oh, I love the clubs in LA, especially Malediction Society. That on any given night I would have to decide between 15 places that had gothic/deathrock/psychobilly/steampunk events happening was a bit bewildering though. It is a far cry from Ohio where their goth nights eventually became “industrial-metal model your hot topic clothes” nights. I really, really, really wish I could live there, if not for the events, for the opportunities and the myriad of people to collaborate with/learn from.

Nurse with Wound was a great band. Honestly I hadn’t even considered it though. I was more thinking of the phrase “nurse his/her wound”. The doctor, being named “Doctor Stop”, coupled with her name, leads to some slightly Abbot and Costello-ness in later issues.

- I used to write these in high school with funny rapper drawings and leave them in the hallways of my 99.99% rapper high school. I think they liked them - dunno… the reactions were rather mixed.

I think this page answers my question about Nurse Wound in my last comment. Though you do not list them, a person aware of the musicians on this list would undoubtedly be aware of Nurse With Wound. I don’t know if it was an intentional reference or not but I am going to go back to that page now and clap, point etc.

Nice musical influences list, by the way. Usually I suggest music to people when they tell me what they like but I don’t think I’d have all that many to suggest that you wouldn’t already know (except for the local acts that haven’t made it nationally yet). You might enjoy some of the clubs in LA. Some of the issues you covered in the comic page about clubs do apply to the clubs in LA but not unless you live here, really. If you ever travel to LA for a convention or any other reason, drop me a line and I’ll probably offer to take you out. Even though the site is under revision and not really something I care to promote at the moment (fair warning and/or disclaimer for crappy current design and utter lack of content), I put my website url so you’d have a way to contact me.

Nurse Wound… I wonder if her name is a not very veiled reference to the band Nurse With Wound. Or just a coincidence. It wouldn’t be that strange of a coincidence but I would clap and point a lot if it was a reference. My poor hands aren’t sure what to do until I know. I would just keep typing until then but I have work of my own to do and I’ll never know unless I press submit.
